<S> Mackar.

I actually found an unorthodox way around getting the game to fit on my new iMac display. It is by no means an optimal solution but it does give me the ability to fly in the arenas.

What I did was pull out an old Viewsonic external display monitor I had from about 15 to 20 years ago I used for the old tower Macs.
(that was the only one I had)

I had to purchase a Thunderbolt 3 (usb c) to DVI adapter cable.
$15 US from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07V3 ... UTF8&psc=1

They also have adapters for VGA.

Once I hooked up the external monitor, I went to the System Preferences > Displays.
From there click on the “Display” button and select “Optimized for (select your external monitor)”.
Go back to main Display dialogue box and select “Arrangement”. From there select “Mirror Displays”

At this point I put my external display on the floor behind my desk and out of the way.
I even turned it off and unplugged the power cord, and it still reads it. Leave the monitor cable hooked up.
(not sure that would be the case with all monitors)

You can now fly Warbirds from your new computer and view it from there.

Only catch is, you’re stuck on whatever the maximum resolution and dimensions that is on your external monitor.

In my case it’s pretty low due to the age of the monitor. Map icons in tower are HUGE for me now. and resolution is sub par for the computer I have. Other than that the rest is okay.

Remember that after you are done flying WB, go back to the Display setting and re-select “Built-in Retina Display” to go back to using other applications.

It’s a gigantic pain in the ass, i know, but it works on a basic level now.

Kind of frustrating that I am paying for the premium monthly package for Warbirds and have to resort to this setup in order to play.

Fingers crossed for iEN to get an update soon to address this problem.

Hope this helps.

Ok stay with me here.
I use Headless monitor jacks for my servers so I get VPN remote resolutions that are better.

So, if you were to use an HDMI headless jack:

https://www.amazon.com/Headless-Display ... B06XT1Z9TF

Then an HDMI to Thunderbolt 3 adapter:

https://www.amazon.com/QGeeM-Adaptador- ... 179&sr=8-4

It would probably see it as an external and have much more choices for resolution

total cost without tax or ship is $20.00 give or take?

Thanks Juice,

I'll give that one a shot. Worth a try at least.

Will let you know how it works out.

Howdy gang. My turn. My 10 yr old iMac finally seized up and I just got a new one today. Setup all fine . Nice upgrade. So hit the WB button and game opened up as usual but when went to login to the arena it asked me if I wanted to update. Said ok and that was it. The updater never appears even after multiple tries.. But I does seem to fly offline ok and in widescreen too... So the game seems to actually work in Catalina but theres an updater glitch... on my system anyway..

Hope its an easy fix.

Edit. Looking into the resources folder the IEN updater is greyed out and has a circle with a line thru it.. like all the other apps that are no longer compatible after upgrading to all 64 bit Catalina.

if SPINDZ can give us an updater file that can work that would be an easy fix maybe? The only thing is that I am not sure if there really is an update to be had or if its part of the glitch .. Anyhoo, some food for thought there..

Same issue for me. Can't use the updater. Have reverted to flying on my old iMac, which uses an older OS.

Booner and I are having the same issues. We sent a note into Dan explaining what is going on.
Was working on my new Mac with Catalina as long as I plugged an old DVI monitor into it.
But as soon as the latest build went as a forced update a day or so ago, no go.

Have not heard back yet. If I get any news I will pass it along.

Got a response from HQ. SPINDZ has made it so we can now enter the arena. They need some help from a mac programmer to fix the updater, but at least we can fly for now..If you know anyone who is a Mac whiz let HQ know..
