Anyone else out there like I was who has been stuck on Windows XP (and therefore stuck using Classic Mode) because you have an old gameport joystick stick which is no longer compatible with newer operating systems? If that stick is the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback version 1.0 stick, then I have a potential solution for you.

Zilla - I just remembered, that old handle 'Arnot' sent me an adapter that was game port to usb. Would something like that that not work?

It depends on the stick. There were/are allegedly adapters that did the gameport to USB conversion, but unfortunately none of them passed through the forcefeedback signals from the Sidewinder FFB version 1.0 (or any of the FFB sticks for that matter). So if you wanted the FFB portion - which I do - then you need this specific adapter.

Ahhhh...FFB.

By chance, did you talk with Panama about this? He is a MSSWFfb user. I wonder if he found a workaround.

I have not. If he has the version 2 which is USB out the gate, then it is no issue. If he's on a 1.0 like me and you happen to remember it, send him my way.

My problem was not one of compatibility. The sticks died and I couldn't replace them. Still have two of 'em laying around.

Oh yeah, mine are USB.
