Good idea qweqwe. I don't usually bother bombers going home. It actually works in the defenders' favour as a successful return takes longer than a rinse and repeat after dying.
How about making any bomber/fighter that gets shot down have to launch from one base further away? This would especially help with reducing the rinse and repeat of defenders in GV's and or fighters, as well as put pressure on bomber pilots to return to a friendly base.

The problem with this thought of not shooting down returning bombers is, folks don't realize fighter pilots aren't mind readers. How are we to always know they are returning to base? Or that they are empty?
I've let one go just to notice they later changed course and took out a small outpost with their remaining bomb load. We don't know their intention. In WW2 did pilots say "oh.. he must be out of ordinance we should let him return home"? No, that was an asset they could take out that would never come back to do damage (not so applicable in main arena, but definitely in S3).

Actually, in WW2 the enemy fighters didnt usually really follow bombers back to their allied bases just to shoot them upon landing did they?

Thats a whole nuther can o worms for WB 4..

As far as I know, returning bombers did have to worry about enemy fighters. Bombing runs into Germany went in phases: climb out, enemy fighter interception, blanket of flak/over target, egress target area, encounter enemy fighters again, and then return to home field. The introduction of the long legged P-51D allowed escorts to fly deeper into Germany and handle the enemy fighters.

Why engage returning bombers? Every plane shot down is one less plane to come back with bombs.

I know that last point means nothing in an endless respawning environment.

The values on kills can be scored according to what plane you shoot down, top shelf airplanes, good points, easy shoot down planes, not as many points...….but the kicker that can be done.....is..... a multiplier to be applied to your score when you execute a safe landing at your base.
It was tried and tested during several 1 night events I done...….sadly, soundly rejected cause everyone would have to start at zero points and THAT was pretty much rejected by the player base.

Pity folks are rejecting reality. If you crash/ditch in real world, you are not back in business after few mouse clicks. Neither can a lonely bomber, after closing an enemy field, jump to a trooping without returning to a base, where suitable kite or vehicle is available.
