More than we should have, I remember a number of things that were tried to stop a lot of poor playing habits, gaming the game. Some worked some caused other issues.

In a perfect game/sim we would all try to fly, fight and bomb in a rl historical manner.

If in 20 years you have seen twice cheating it is that you do not see anything.
I see cheating every day I play. And without changing the code, only using the weaknesses of the game that are a lot.
I am playing for 20 years too.

Yes there are some weaknesses in the game that can be exploited by the griefer or desperado as I like to refer to them as.
(generally there flaws are in most games)

This is where "sportsmanship" comes into it.
You cannot control these people so its up to you to you approach the game with the right intentions and fly with a sporting attitude.

Do you chase down and empty (potentially damaged) bomber who is RTB?
What for? You are too late. He is no longer any threat to any field and is just trying to land it.

Do you let a damaged fighter that you have duelled hard with (and beaten fairly) either ditch or land at their field?
Mostly yes, as this is the most sporting approach to take. Depends on the circumstance (like serial ditcher / bailer).

The score system doesn't help at all as it only reflects the points gained.
Thus those with the most amount of sorties generally tend to be in the lead.
Doesn't take into account how many lives lost / planes lost or survival rate.

If you take your score and divide by no. of sorties you get a better impression of average score per sortie.

If you recognize that there are some weaknesses in the game that can be exploited by the most serious or desperate people, you might be to solve them. Why wait?

I never liked the scoring and have no value for me.

I am hurt because I have spoken openly of people I admire and then I have discovered that them are big cheater.

The best squad is where there are more cheaters people.
