Warbirds force opens its "FACEBOOK" page upon game exit.
I believe that this is a pure annoyance to many players.

For community building purposes, I believe it would be much more beneficial to open a window to "THIS FORUM" on game exit instead.

New players seeking help and advice
Player discussion
Reporting game issues
Squad recruitment
News
Event info & News
Updates
Flight model changes
etc etc

(Warbirds can always add a LINK to their facebook page here and/or a LIVE chat button!)

I'm sure many people don't even know that this forum exists.

Please complete this poll if you concur.

I vote for open none. This annoyance should be removed. It only helps make people not want to play the game.

I agree 100% with Bollok.

However, I agree 101% with qweqwe.

I think there should be a button on the exit page,
maybe as a menu item (see sample image below).

The buttons and text for the menu on the title screen
are quite large. Maybe reducing them to 80% is better
and that will make room for another button titled:
WEBSITE

NOTE: the images below are NOT now in the game.
My idea was to add another menu item: WEBSITE,
which I added using PhotoShop as a proposed change.


I know this will take a bit of work by Dan, but
it is definately worth it.

I like the idea of sending folks to the Community
Forum. This is preferable to sending them to
a site they probably already have seen, since
they downloaded the game from there. Duh!



Doesn't the big WARBIRDS logo at the top of
this page on the Forum direct users to the
main iENT Warbirds page?

I voted to go to the forum on exit, but I agree the sim should not force open any webpage on exit no matter what page it is.

For those of you who don't want any page on exit, ( which I would have voted for if it was an option. ) you just need to do the following on your computer or where ever you have your game loaded.

Open your warbird folder where the game is installed. In there, you will find a file called "quiturl.txt" DO NOT DELETE IT.

You will need to open it in notepad or your favorite text editor and delete all the text written on that file. Then SAVE it.

The facebook page will not open anymore.

If you do a Game update of any sort recheck this file to make sure the update has not fixed the file. If so delete the text and resave.

Problem is IEN got wise to the 'quiturl.txt' trick and have embedded the code somewhere you cant find to delete anymore..

Perhaps if there was something to learn from the FB page upon exiting then it might be useful, but as it, its an annoyance.. IMHO, when you hit Quit game, thats what you intend to do. Not continue on to more game stuff.. What was the intended result of this idea anyway?

Bring back the old quit game and be done system. Worked fine for a few decades..

Its a pure annoyance to literally EVERYBODY...

However.. If IEN insist on opening a dialogue on exit at least send them somewhere useful like this FORUM.

This forum desperately needs traffic from the community and actually has a lot of useful info.

So that's why there are just 2 clear options on the POLL so I can send it to Wildbil

(not a 3rd which would be of course be NOTHING on exit)

No, this still works (open with notepad and delete the content text in the file only and save)

No way I would put up with that facebook crap opening every time I quit the game !!!!

Do you know how often that can be when programming and or testing stuff !? .... well a lot

Thank you drdart, Pakrat and bollok for the info about quiturl.txt. It works and so nice I don't have to close webbrowser or a tab everytime I exit the game anymore!

I'm on the 64 bit Mac version and I cant find any quiturl.txt files anymore in the resources folder as I did before. There is one in the M4 game folder which I altered with no effect on WB but cant find the location of its new hiding place.. Any help appreciated..

I have no idea why you can't do this on your Mac, sorry. Win10 here, followed drdart's instruction and no more opening browser on exit.
