Try installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable from:

That fixed it for me.

Hiya Todzilla, thanks for the link. I installed it but the beta still won't run... getting the same error messages.

Thanks Todzilla, the beta ran after installing both 64 and 32 bit versions of the set.

As mentioned you can't control rudder and throttle in the tutorial flight(I adjusted speed by turning engine off and on like WW1 planes...). When you complete the training, online and free flight are unlocked and you can fly all the planes and get rudder and throttle control. Major features(planes and maps) seem the same with the existing WarBirds. UI and some ground objects look different.

You really should only need the version that is specific to your operating system. If you're on a 64-bit system, install the 64-bit version. I'm kind of surprised that you were able to install the opposite version in the first place.

The only thing that looks updated is the look of the user interface page. Adding switches isnt really a whole new game is it..
Looking forward to reading beta testers comments..Any idea if there will be a Mac Beta too?

You should be right and what happened was strange indeed. OS is Win 10 64 bit. The problem persisted after installing the 64 bit set and the beta game runs after installing the 32 bit version.

Has the cartoon bail-out sound been replaced?

I'm still reading the forums... Warbirds will always be my favorite- but I just can't play it anymore. However...
I've got the beta running, and I have to say it's way too soon for comments- none of the graphics have changed. The Tower interface is different. That's about it so far. I'm beta testing in the hope that it will wind up spectacular and support VR. I'd love it if the game changed enough to make gang banging less profitable and easy. If it drives some of the old guard away... that would be too bad BUT... this style of play, which combines the expertise of years and completely unbalanced sides has been driving noobies away for years. I can't remember exactly how many players sample the game for one or two nights and then never come back, but I believe it was in the hundreds over the course of a year. We need to keep more of them!
I say try something else, and build a new customer base. The game needs to be both fairer, and a bit easier for noobies to play, at least initially.

Agree 101%

When I started at WB about 1,5 years ago, odds were not that overwhelming, there were pilots of many levels. Not any more, most have gone and new nicks really do not stay long.

In Legacy, when I log in nowadays (mostly during European afternoon times) mostly I see is bunch of "allied" ones bombarding empty fields as there are no others in my "axis" side. When odds are normally 1/4 - 1/14, there's no much sense (especially w/ my pilot skills) to start flying directly against them but to adapt guerrilla style lone wolf tactics. Which seem to irritate some, according to remarks received at ch 100.

I still keep on peeping in Legacy now and then, fly sometimes a bit, mostly use GVs and ack and if ever get my right hand working properly again, will try to learn fighters as well. Main Arena & Tank Battle AI:s will occasionally entertain me while that, both in air and ground. There the odds are more favorable. And offline, of course, there one can choose.
