<S> pakrat.
Hmm, there should be no changes to the lanc guns that I know of. Dunno why you find it harder to counter the Fw 190's. I've checked them in the game and the tail turret guns seems to have the correct rate fire and the dispersion seems to be the same as before. Also their damage setting should be unchanged. If you can find more specifically why they are not as effective anymore then I can check it up.

A few more changes have been added to the FL2073 update. New default skins for two of the Spitfires and a few more planes have had their stall speed set to more accurate performance, which will result in these planes being more a bit more agile than before.

--= Stall speed reductions =--
P-47's: 4 mph reduction
F6F-5: 3 mph reduction
F4U's: 2 mph reduction

--= Skins =--
The Spitfire Ia *87 oct now has a better looking default skin.
The Spitfire Vb is now has the "133 sqn RAD Don Blakeslee" skin as it's default.

Edit: The Flying Fortress update will go live some day next week. Ient are currently working fulltime with the new graphics.

Will there be Bf109E1 planes to choose for attacking the B-17s?
I have an improved default skin and a second choice that's cool.
See them on my FB page.

Just send it to me and I'll include it for the next update, sir :)

Btw the Fw 190D "Dora" only has one extra skin, and a quite low-res default skin. Might be worth looking into if fingers are itching for a new project ;)

This camo for "Stab/JG26, Major Franz Götz, "Yellow 10" " is just beautiful:

Also this camo for "7./JG26, "Brown 4" " is really nice. Might have been flown by Oblt. Waldemar Radener who was known for flying the "Brown 4, Fw 190A-8". (Hustedt is a base they operated from). Would love to see both of these skins in the sim :)

I'll get the default Bf109E1 skin out to you today, I just need to take off the
swaztika and VFC it.

As for the second E1 skin, I need someone to do the PPV code. I am stymied.
It could have something to do with the naming of this plane in the game. Perhaps
Dan can help. Is the PPV name in the game one of the following:
109e1a0
Bf109E1
Bf109E-1

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd be glad to work on the Dora. It would help greatly if someone has the PSD files
(not just the Targa files) so they can email them to me. Does anyone know who
skinned the "Red-13" Dora? Is there a way to contact him?

It will take me about one to two weeks to do a good job. I have already found some
great images for the "Brown-4" skin and look forward to working on it. Your pick
for he "Yellow-10" is nice too!

I've checked the Bf 109E-1. The file name for it is "109E1A0". For some reason it's .ppv file states "BF109E1" as the skin-path, but I tried making a ppv folder named bf109E1 and put the 109E4AA skins in it, no results and no skins showing up in the Vehicle info. I then renamed the ppv folder to "109E1A0", and now all the skins worked, and the Bf 109E-1 could now use the Bf 109E-4Aa skins.

As such try to name the folder and files to 109E1A0 and maybe they will work?

I'll ask Dan for the Dora files, sir.

Thanks Robert. I could not get mine to work, but as long as you can put the
DEFAULT skin and one other plane ... "Yellow 10" for the E1, that's great.

I don't understand about why there is E-4Aa in the name, perhaps you
can look at this path and show me what to do with the names:

ppv \ 109E1A0 \ Bf109E-4Aa_2.vfc

ppv \ 109E1A0 \ Bf109E-4Aa_2ppv.vfc

If I can get the proper names above then it's ...

Next to get the Bf109E3 "Yellow 15" to work ...

... then on to the Doras.

I found a great profile image for the "Brown 4" and will be working on matching
these colors:

Rgr that sir!
I got the tiger-striped default skin to work for the Bf 109E-1. However I could not get the secondary ppv skin to work no matter what name I gave it. I think I have a solution for it though. Instead of making a Bf 109E-1 skin, make it completely as a Bf 109E-4 skin for the Bf 109E-4 (filename: BF109E). I can then just put it into the 109e1a0 folder and it should work if it works for the E-4, like all the other E-4 skins.

The green nosed Dora you posted is also a nice version of the "Brown 4". Dunno if that one or if the brown-nosed version looks cooler. Hard to decide. Is it possible to do two versions? One with a green nose and one with a brown nose? I guess with art it's always in the eye of the beholder ;) .

Dora brown nose or green nose? Sounds nasty. Yes I can easily do two versions.

Tiger-striped default skin? I don't understand. Do you mean the green-striped plane "Yellow 10"?

The sky blue skin "Red 14" should be the default E-1 skin. "Yellow 10" wavy green stripes on tan plane is the second E-1 skin.
I don't think your idea will work well as a solution because the E-1 and the E-4 have very different fuse and wing format plans
in the Fuse.psd and Wing.psd. I'd have to move a lot of rivets and lines. Lots of layers do not match. See images below ...

But I'll do it if you are sure it will work. What will the names in the pathname directory look like? See my other post.
I can do it and it's very possible. I'll give it some thought. Good idea though. What does Dan think?

There has to be something wrong in the custom.txt name and/or the following code:

Do you know why the last line ... "bf1093 default" can be different? I've seen it as: d5a default
Do you know why "109e1a0_12.pcx" is there? Why "_12"? what does the _12 mean?
Maybe the fifteen spaces before "matName" and "maxName", etc. is too much? I used 3 tabs, so maybe I'll remove those tabs and use like 5 spaces?

Hmm, yes. For some reason the green striped "Schwarze 3" became the default for the Bf109E-1 yesterday, strange. Previous default was the low-resolution "Red 5". Now I get the "Red 14" as the default skin, so seems to be working correctly.

I've checked into it more. It's very strange but all Bf 109E's seem to be connected to the Bf 109E-4 somehow.
* If I copy all the skins of the BF109E ppv folder and paste them into the 109E1A0 and 109e4AA folder, then both the Bf 109E-1 and Bf 109E-4Aa can use the skins.
* If I then delete the skins from the BF109E folder, then the E-1 and E-4Aa still have the skins listed in the Vehicle info menu, but they all look like the default skin of that plane (i.e. red 14 & black 5).
* If I put back the skins into the BF109E folder again then all skins work correctly for the E-1 and E-4Aa again.
* Deleting the skins from the 109E4Aa folder does not affect the 109E1A0 skins from showing correctly.
* I can not get the E-1 Yellow 10 to work, no matter what name I give it or if I copy it to both the BF109E & 109E1A0 folder.

Another test I did was to use your .ppv file for the Bf 109E-1.
* By using this the E-1 got the "Yellow 10" as default skin, not the "red 14". I could not use any other skin for it though. If removing the "yellow 10" from the 109E1A0 .ppv folder, the default skin of the E-1 reverted to the "black 5" of the E-4. The "Yellow 10" skin actually showed up though ingame as long as the files for it were in the .ppv folder.
* The cockpit however dissapeared when using your 109E1A0.ppv file and got replaced with the SBD-5 Dauntless cockpit.

I then tried to manipulate the original 109E1A0 .ppv file by changing one row at a time.
*Changing name of the fusetex and wingtex rows etc etc didn't do anything.
* Using your .vfc name however screwed the FM up and replaces the cockpit with the SBD-5 dauntless cockpit and reverted the default skin into the P-51 skin. . It seems it takes the skin of the last plane used except the E-1.
* If also changing the skinpath to 109e1a0 though then the "yellow 10" skin showed up as the default. I could then change the skinpath again and the "yellow 10" would still be the default skin. The cockpit was still that of the SBD-5 Dauntless though. Next time I did it the E-1 got the E-4's "Yellow 9" skin. I now could not get the normal E-1 default back no matter what text I used in the .ppv file. Using your .vfc path though changes the skin of all Ai's to the "Yellow 10". If I use "P51.vfc" then all wingmen will look like P-51D's. I had to exit the game and restart it in order to get the default "Red 14" skin to work again. This issue is probably why I had the "Schwarze 3" skin as default yesterday.
* Changing the skinpath seems to do nothing really otherwise. I set it to "P51" but nothing changed.

It seems very strange how the skins work for the Bf 109E's. I have not seen this phenomenon with any other plane, nor with the Bf 109F's/G's/K's. Must have to do with how they originally coded/cloned the 3d models of the Bf 109E's.

P.S. I've learnt to use the #-symbol when adding notes to any FM files, not the *-symbol. I'm not a computer programmer though so maybe both work?

110% effort on your part, sir. Thank you!!!

Maybe if you experiment with the second line of the .ppv file:

*Bf109E-1 6./JG54 "Yellow 10”, France,'40
ppv\109e1a0\109e1a0_2.vfc vfcName

This has a lot to do with matching the skin to the path.
I'm changing the second line to this:
ppv\109e1a0\Bf 109E-4Aa_2.vfc vfcName

editing this post soon ... stay tuned:

That second line and maybe custom.txt in the .vfc plane might be the key.
Plus the name of the directory in the ppv directory or the names of the 2 files in the ppv directory.

Ok, I went back to the standard procedure for any skin (It didn't work).

I set custom.txt to:
109e1a0

I set the pathnames to:
ppv \ 109e1a0 \ 109e1a0_2.vfc
ppv \ 109e1a0 \ 109e1a0_2ppv.vfc

I set the second line of the .ppv file to:
ppv \ 109e1a0 \ 109e1a0_2.vfc vfcName
I didn't use tabs, just a few spaces

I don't know what to do with the Aa stuff. If you want me to send the above files and the .ppv file
I can do that, Robert. If you want me to create a new Bf109E-4 (based on the "Schwarze 8" skin)
I can do this in a couple of days, maybe sooner. I'll name it: bf109e_10.vfc, but will it work? Will
it show up in the E-1 pull down menu in tower?
