Gasted..

Trees are not in the same locations on everyones front end. So its moot whether they are on or off.. I can hide under a tree and someone else will see me in the wide open expanses.. regardless..Same for clouds. Not the same for all. Been asking them to remove both to avoid confusion but they havent..

Classic mode has not been downloadable on Macs for some time now, and any attempt to update an old build fails.. I would expect the same is true for PC's but someone else would have to chime in on that..

Its really poor sportsmanship to blame your lack of ability on an unproven and unfounded accusation of cheating. Out of all the newer players who have called cheat on better pilots, I cant remember one time it was proven to be true.
Your time would be better spent in a training arena session with Juice..Then you would see just how much you still have to learn.. Dont ever hear any of the long timers here calling cheat on someone now, do you?

LOL! All the 352nd has cheats. Come on, man, don't you remember the threads from the early aughts?
</sarcasm off>

What really makes me laugh is when the Cheat Bleaters dismiss the fact that damn near everyone of the old timers are all experten. How many thousands of sorties? In how many, if not every airframe in WB? I don't usually entertain the people who call us cheats. But sometimes, you have to shut them down. Gasted and Donald are two who don't seem to understand the history.

Ni Yen.

P.S. - I no longer am playing on my Mac...I managed to get a super cheap deal to purchase my PC from work. It plays WB nicely.

Yes, I was wondering how did you find me in a middle of a forest. And I believed you and accepted your explanation but still you had to have your revenge because of personal antipathy and make sure everyone reading this forum will consider me despicable whiner now on. You call that sportsmanship?

Actually yes, some do, but they don't dare to mention it in public channel just because of this.

What comes to history and my capabilities as a pilot, I have quite openly told it at WB I'm lousy pilot and especially w/ 1-engine kites.

But anyway, you got your scapegoat in a mode of a relative newcomer who was brave and stupid enough to question. And accepting the answer given did not satisfy the insulted honor, so lets speak it out, loud and clear, make sure everyone knows it. Don't question, do not ask.

I did nothing but post a video proving I wasn't in classic mode which I told you I would do. It also showed the extent of our conversation on channel 100 which wasn't much. Your "excuse accepted" comment in the buffer sounds different then "...I believed you and accepted your explanation..." comment above.

And I didn't realize your "its easy when no trees..." and "then u have x-ray vision" comments were questions.

Don't worry Gasted, 2 years ago I was the worst pilot in WarBirds and felt everyone else here was cheating... it's just natural to be suspicious and have doubts when you are newbie. Once you get more experienced and better you can find explanation for wonders old timers would perform. A bit of advice is to fly with Jlord from time to time... then you'll realize how vastly he is knowledgeable of the game and there's so much to learn from him.

Putting the conspiracy theorists aside, I have a relatively higher-end system but was forced to fly in Classic Mode. Why? Because I still use a gameport joystick which is ONLY compatible with Windows XP and older operating systems. Microsoft dropped support for the gameport starting with Windows Vista and I have been running Windows XP ever since.

The newer versions of DirectX has not loaded on XP for me, and therefore the ONLY operating system that I have been able to run is "Classic". Full disclosure, I also have not reinstalled from scratch in years to check if the updated DirectX would install on XP, but in my situation is that I have been stuck on Classic with not choice of to go forward.

Advantages of Classic is that you don't have a lot of the ground clutter and can fly through trees. Disadvantages are that you don't see dots in the distance under classic as you can with non. This is a huge disadvantage in S3's. Additionally, you get the flashing coastlines and other visual drawbacks in Classic. Multi-monitor setups are also far more difficult - if not impossible - to set up under XP as well.

So there are many disadvantages for being in Classic as well. Bottom line, not everyone that is flying under Classic is making a conscious effort to cheat.

Having said that, I have recently found a home-built adapter that allows my Microsoft Sidewinder force feedback joystick version 1.0 to talk to new operating systems with a custom built USB adapter and after about a decade of waiting I'm now running a newer operating system and have been flying using the expected wb3.exe. I vastly prefer it.

I'll start a separate thread for anyone stuck on XP for the same reason I was.

We all get frustrated in WarBirds and things get said in the buffer. I was flying at the time this event occurred and I feel like it was resolved quickly. I even PM'd JLo to tease him about giving away all "his" secrets.

GasTed flies with JG51 and has been learning quickly. What others may not know, is that he is playing WarBirds one-handed, which can be very frustrating. Hopefully that situation is resolved and he can move beyond GV's and bombers.

My desire would be that senior players do what JLo did and explain what every seasoned player knows instead of telling someone to get bent.

As I said, the situation was resolved quickly and cooler heads prevailed.

(And Sakai is just happy to see someone other than the Astros being called cheaters. ;) )

EDIT - my post on a prior page was a bit harsh...Forgive a crusty weary old player.
