It is true Greenx that the game is largely supported by volunteers.

If I was to charge iEN standard rates for my time spent doing stuff on their behalf, they would need to pay me something like $700 per week...

But sure bollok ient charge the players money and other games charge the same and have way better graphics and its a shame as it did loose alot of players .
I do like the game as its
Fun but the only reason i keep playing is due to having friends from different locations and its fun playing the game together.
Now u say that u need. Payment and i agree if u can help the game play then ient should pay
But anyhow clearly we all have some issues that moderators and owners should look it to helping out to keep the very few left that enjoy playing but get frustrated due to the issues its hard to attarck new players due to better games outhere i wont mention. Names .

As far as IEN needing to raise funds to improve the graphics, i'm afraid I dont buy into that one anymore. For many years we heard this riff from Wild Bill that they were going to develop some new spinoffs of Warbirds that would help raise the needed fundage to funnel into the game so they could update the look and feel. Instead, we got Flyboys, Dogfights, Merged with Fighter Aces and even used some of their outdated graphics boasting it as a new graphics engine featuring Zvesda (or whateverhis name was) which went nowhere, Tank battle, A poorly reviewed and executed version that went nowhere on Steam, and even a hunting and fishing game all developed with with the funds that should have gone to fixing the #1 reason folks were here. WB 3 was released more than 15 years ago and the look of the game hasnt improved much since then.. Dont expect that to change..

The game (WARBIRDS) needs proper investment - simple as that.
Investment in the game and in people.
Not just upgraded but supported and marketed

New graphics is a given. Existing terrains need updating.
VR compatible would be a bonus at some point as this is likely to be the future of gaming.

They could immediately double their numbers by aggressively targeting the European market.
Huge interest in WW2 aviation exists and yet hardly and EURO players at all in warbirds these days.

As somebody said to me not that long ago.... the future of the game probably isn't a bunch of old men.

The question then arises: is WWII aviation enthusiasm going to fade with the generation?

My children did not inherit my love of aviation or WWII aviation, but they will play online WWII combat games all day (Call of Duty). When I discuss WWII aviation with younger coworkers, they are completely indifferent.

The young whipper-snappers do not know what a SIMULATION really is.
They need to be taught that a Sim tries to make gameplay with a great
amount of realism, aviation technology and historical accuracy. These
are things that are not taught in school. They want instant gratification.
Instant gratification is outside the realm of WB. Maybe the target icons
need to be bigger. Maybe the targets need to appear earlier in the
gameplay. Explosions could be more graphic. I like to see the my own
plane skins and of wingmen, enemies, etc., but that's just me.

That comment about old men better not be about me! I've got at least
20 more good years on me.

Yes, I also see ALL of the films that come out about WWII aviation. Some are plain bad, some are worthy of more than one viewing.
Not to hijack the thread, but If you guys haven't seen "Dark Blue World", it's worth checking out. About a Czech squad in WWII.
