Online arenas
For the last few weeks the OLD RPS has not been running.

Look out for a trial of a new set up, designed to encourage more play.
This will be a 2 stage block RPS

Early - Mid War
Covering the period from 1939 up to 1943
The TOP tier fighters in this group will only be available from LAF (heavy bomber bases)
eg: Spit IXb, Fw190A4

Mid - Late War
Covering the period from 1943 up to 1945
The TOP tier fighters in this group will only be available from LAF (heavy bomber bases)
eg: Spit XIVe, Fw190D9

What is the idea behind this ??
We want as many people to play online as possible on any given day of the week...
We don't want people to feel restricted and avoid playing just because their fav plane isn't available (Lanc, P51 whatever)
But we still want to have some diversity and have players USE the full planeset, not just the top late war rides.

Enabling the top tier fighters in each "group" at LAF bases only means that whilst they are of course available, it means you will see a lot MORE use of the other models.

It also adds another incentive to CLOSE or CAPTURE LAF bases and not just go for the easy to close fields.

That is the plan - Well my plan to be fair!
We try that for a few weeks and see how it goes.

There may be some additions in the next few days before the update is forced.

Worth trying Bollok (the RPS idea). Might also make things interesting when the numbers are imbalanced -- easier to defend big bases when you can roll better fighters against superior numbers.

Cant seem to get the mandatory updater to work .. Says files not on server and something about manifest.txt... then all files up to date and quit.. Bang-shoot, fizzzzz ! cannot fly now.

New EARLY/MID RPS stage is running. (MON-FRI)

* Basically includes planes and vehicles up to 1943
* top tier fighters like Fw190A4, Tiffy 42, C205, 109G6, Spit9b are only available at LAF bases as per HVY bombers.


Mid / Late stage will run in the last week of the TOD (SAT-END)

* will retain some specific early era planes
* will retain all the mid war planes.
* adds late war GVs and A/C
* top tier fighters like Fw190D9, P51D, P47D25, 109K, Spit14, P38L, F4U-4, YAK9U, NF30 are only available at LAF bases as per HVY bombers.

Lots of potential there.

LAFs may become somewhat treated as a "home bases" to some to defend at all costs (depending on the terrain)
HVY buffs might enjoy more fighter escort, either by accident or design
LAF becomes a more valuable target to hit to deny the enemy both fighter and bomber capacity.
Potential for a more diverse mix of a/c in action instead of just the same 3 or 4 types.

It's what you make it.
