If you have some info\maps on the Winter War and Continuation War that would be awesome. Translated for any difficult parts. I just have the basic English language and some Russian Maps.
Trying to get a Leningrad winter terrain started.

Jabo - I cannot find my version of the book, but I will look this weekend...and I know you have the same one that you used to build the map that is layered UNDER the Ardennes map. I have that exact book, and IIRC they have the Leningrad map you are looking for. I just cannot remember the name of the book.

I have another book and here is a map from The Illustrated History of WWII - John Ray, pg. 43.

I was thinking more a 192 mile terrain at 192 miles.

http://www.squadselectseries.com/images ... 2048V3.jpg

That covers the main airwar in the Winter War and the siege of Leningrad from 41 to 43.

The problem I am experimenting with is the winter part. Do I carve out the rivers and lakes to 0 level so the water textures show up or do I just leave them flat and white.
Raised in Manitoba. I know winter and the white unfeeling blanket we face everyday. But half the year they fought in mossie infested forests and later in hot summer days.

Hi -jabo-

Yes. One Finn here.

Finnish front sounds very interesting!

Here's something for starters:

Finnish virtual pilots association has a wartime map project which you can find here: http://www.virtualpilots.fi/feature/art ... airfields/

"This is a project make a reference of Finnish airfields used by Finnish Air Force during the wars between 1939-1945, namely the Winter War, Continuation War and Lappland War."

"The Wartime Airfields project also includes airfield data about ice fields, airfields used during the temporary peace 1940-1941, airfields used by Swedish volunteer unit F.19 during Winter War, airfields used by Germans and Russian airfields. "

You can Download Wartime airfields Google Earth datafile: http://www.virtualpilots.fi/feature/art ... 061124.kmz

If I can be of any help do not hesitate to ask.

-jay

Thanks a million jaybrd! Just could not find anything from the Finnish side with my google searches. This helps immensely. The google data file is priceless.

Hopefully I can get this going for the Winter War then expand to the Continuation War.
