---== UPDATE FL2081: THE FLYING PENCIL ==---
By: Robert and Grumpy

--= Do 17Z-2 =--
We are happy to announce that the Dornier Do 17Z-2 "Flying Pencil" has been fully remodeled to more closely match historical performance.
(The current 3d model/cockpit settings don't allow for the top turret to be manually operated, but we're looking for a solution.)

--= Ju 88 series =--
The Ju 88A-4 and Ju 88C-6a have had their max recommended dive speed increased to 675 kmh (419 mph).

--= B-239 Brewster =--
Dragco corrected to match historical speeds. Slight improvement.

--= I-16 Ishak =--
Slight improvement to pitch trim for a more stable flight.

---== THE DORNIER DO 17Z-2 FULL REHAUL ==---
The Do 17 was built to be fast and first saw action in the Spanish Civil War, where it could outspeed enemy fighters. The nickname "Fliegender Bleistift (Flying Pencil)" derived from it's pencil shaped fuselage. It was extensively used in the European theatre during the start of the war, and was a nimble bomber well capable of hit n' run attacks. Once the Battle of Britain started however, the contemporary fighters were now fully able catch the Do 17. The Do 17Z-2 version saw several improvements from earlier models and was upgraded with the Fafnir 323P-1 engines, able to deliver 1000 hp at Take-Off. The new engines allowed for a top speed of 425 kmh at 4250 m (264 mph at 14000 ft), and a service ceiling of 27000 ft. The bomb load was also increased to 1000 kg (2200 lb). The Do 17 served the Luftwaffe in different roles until the end of the war, but production ended in mid-1940, in favour of the newer Junkers Ju 88.

Probably will be too late for the next project, but there is only the default plane for the Do-17z.
The skin in the deafult is Very good quality. Nevertheless, I want to do one and maybe 2.

Comments?

I still have a whole lot more work to do on this, might take me a couple of weeks
because I have to do Income Tax stuff and some State paperwork...

Graphic challenge with the Do17. Cockpit artwork is using the He111 and the top gunner position cannot see out of the aircraft.
Short of getting an actual Do17 cockpit (unlikely) can anything be done?
Cheers!

One solution would be a switch to a JU88 cockpit. Layout in it and Do17 is pretty similar and both share same gun positions, excluding JU88s 20mm for the pilot.

To those who care to look at this skin...

Hop into the Default skin and go to outside view. Spin around the plane using the arrow keys and
look particularly closely at the cockpit canopy (the glass). There is no reflection and it is as if there
is absolutely no glass.

Next hop into either of my new skins (OOPS, I FORGOT IT'S NOT IN THE UPDATE YET). Well, when
the new skins are in the update, you will see how I've gone into the code and made the GLASS
somewhat more visible. See the image below and you can see what I mean. I only wish someone
could help me figure out how to make the glass both Reflective and somewhat Smoky (or cloudy).

In the images above, screenshots taken using the Dot Planeskin command, the glass is NOT visible.
It only shows up after I've made the .VFC file for the game.
