Hiya Finn, good to hear from you.
I would think that WildBill doesn't have full control of game development now that MicroProse has invested in WB's. It wouldn't surprise me if WarBirds becomes a cloud based game that all devices could play. Makes sense in that it would open up a very very large possible user base. Remember MicroProse invested their money to make a profit. I'm not sure how that would work for the WB's we play now unless users on portable devices would be cultivated for Desktop play. Or it is possible that WildBill has learned the hard way to keep one's mouth shut when major game development is ongoing and we get a new version of online WarBirds sometime in the future. Of course all the snarky remarks (although well deserved) probably helped in shutting down any information flow.
Looking forward to the day that we either hear that WarBirds is going away or some new iteration is otw.
Time will tell.

I think Microprose's efforts are going into this game.

Microprose as a publisher has at least one game out on steam and several on the way. The Admirals game is a remake of a 1990s Microprose title. I think it is very heartening to see Microprose on the scene as a resurrected developer. With the rights to so many iconic 1990s combat titles, an update to any of them would be awesome.

Watch Task Force Admiral trailers and you can see WarBirds models and style in this updated version. The great thing is they are developing a world tactical battle system with this game. Sea Power is a modern version of this game and looks just as awesome. Regiments looks to be a better take on Eugene systems wargame franchise, again a tactical operational battleground. I have watched in DCS World where they have this type of system working in the background to generate operational missions that players can then fly, watch or command. Imagine this game system running the operational 24/7 arena where you log in to fly each night.

I am very optimistic about Microprose being on the scene again. Imagine if they update Falcon 4.0 and all their other classics? I see the direction of Microprose as being different than most game developers. They have a very combat simulation wargame centric outlook and fill a niche that few other developers desire to.

We may not have WB 2020 in name but I am hopeful it will be something similar where we can all meet again.

Watch the movie "The Money Pit" to fully understand what "2 weeks" means.

I don't think the graphics of that other game mentioned here is up to par
with some of the great games like WarThunder. Can we be assured that
the graphics and skins are the absolute best that we can have?

PS: here are a few examples of what I hope we can include in WB 2021...

I wonder if this plays into the WarBirds mix:

MicroProse teams up with UNIGINE to use its new UNIGINE 2 real-time 3D engine.

Interesting regardless.

This may have to wait for the next update. I have a few more days work on the winter camo for
this plane flown by Hans-Ulrich Rudel. I promise to have photos of the finished skin by Christmas Day!
