I heard a rumour that WB 2020 will not feature support for VR. I hope that's not true. IF the next version doesn't support VR, IEN/Microprose will be making a huge mistake. During this pandemic, the VR headsets (pardon the pun) flew off the shelves, and most of the quality companies ran out of stock! It's a rapidly growing market and Sims that don't accommodate VR are going to be left in the virtual dust.
The technology is improving fast, and it's a literal game changer for any kind of simulation, especially flight!

Do not forget the ability to head shift off of the center line position!

Exactly- in VR you can look AROUND the canopy railings. you can even lean over and lover over the side and down or up (as far as the canopy will allow anyway).
I've been playing a soaring sim called Condor2 in VR as well as MS FSX and a couple of WB's competitors (who shall remain unnamed).
All those games support VR without REQUIRING it. So people who don't like VR headsets don't have to use them. It's not like the game has to support ONLY VR.
This is a no brainer.. Just support VR.

Never tried one, it sounds great, but how can one use keyboard w/ it? There are so many functions when flying, especially bombers, that part of them have to handled w/ keyboard, at least w/ my set.

... and where do you buy a VR headset? How much do they cost? Do they all work the same?
What kind of set do you use? How many other WB pilots use VR? Who are they? What are
the downsides of using one? Like mentioned, how do you use the keyboard? Do they all
work with Mac and PC alike? Can you show screenshots of your flights? As asked before,
will Warbirds 2020/21 support it?

... asking for a friend.

Using the keyboard is very difficult. I put some tape on a couple of important buttons so I could find them by touch, but the ultimate solution is a Hotas system.
I've got every important command mapped to my stick or throttle. Works great in the competition... would too here. The cost is coming down. A decent VR headset is about the same cost as a good monitor. (around 5-600US).
Will WB 2020 support it? I doubt it. Should they? Absolutely. WB is a hard game, and a lot of that is due to the time it takes just to learn to use the view system effectively. VR makes SA more intuitive and I think a bit easier. Certainly the learning curve is a lot shorter.
As for IEN...It's hard to know what IEN has in the works.
Since they dropped the unreal4 engine (sic?) and went to the Microprose proprietary engine we've been told basically zero.
Microprose doesn't even mention Warbirds on its web page.
It's a bit discouraging. I keep hoping and playing the beta. Every day I fire it up hoping that today is the day I see a massive update to the new graphics engine.
