Any Japanese speakers know what the symbols mean? Looking for airfields especially.

Thanks in advance.

Here they are sir. Unfortunately there's no information about any airfield on the map.

Thanks qweqwe. That is helpful. Often you have a prewar map then after the front moves you dont have a map of what the other side was using or considered important.

Jabo, I've made a CBI map for The Flying Tigers S3 out of a part of the Greece map. I'm using existing fields and working with Kacey as to how to turn off, or grey out, fields that are not needed.

The portion of the map I'm using is very close to the real terrain for CBI... close enough to run the event anyways... any comments or corrections would be appreciated.

Looks great Nooky. Greece has some pretty cool mountains and its a big terrain so even a small area has good space to fight in.

I thought I might have had a Burma terrain ready for you but having problems with all my stuff in Win10. Held off forever upgrading my rig knowing that my older software may have issues. And I was right. I have a full Burma terrain heightfield ready from years ago but was trying to just do the southern half for Flying Tigers. It may still work out if I can figure out what is causing one of my programs to crash. Its the one I need to flatten terrain and shape rivers.

thanks jabs

yeah I thought given the early war plane set which are much slower that this would be more than big enough for our needs...the water/land masses are in the correct places, plus it has the mountains for the 'hump' . let me know if you make any progress otherwise I'll go with this.

Hey Nooky,

Are you thinking of using the entire CBI area for this event? I see you have the hump in the north. I do have a intitial heightfield that goes all the way up to the top of Burma where the Hump airfields were. I can make it around 256 miles and not the gigantic 406 mile terrains I would normally use for this in the old days. That way you would not have to adjust your game design if it gets done as it would have all your required airfields and routes.

Jabo,

I didn't know that you were working on a CBI map, very cool. So I was working with what I had (the Greece map). My intention is to do the Flying Tigers from Mid December 1941 - Mid July 1942. I believe they get pushed out of Kunming and lose Rangoon durning this time? If that is the case, this area of the map will do fine.

This S3 scenario would be for the Flying Tigers to defend the Burma Rd, protect airlifts over 'the hump' (ai C-47's) and defend Kunming and Rangoon..and shoot down as many japanese aircraft as possible...

The Japanese objectives would be to destroy caravans on the Burma Rd (ai trucks), destroy supply airlifts and take Kunming and Rangoon.

Robert suggested doing a Flying Tigers part 2 S3 that would cover the time after July 1942... I need to read up more on that history...

If you can get the map done in time that would be great to use the real terrain. Let me know if I can help in any way. Other wise we'll use a portion of Greece.
