This plane is gonna take me another week. I still have to do the rivets for the fuse and everything on the wings needs to be done. Thanks for looking. Ebola was one of the best! Could the zip file need a similar year un-Zip program? |

Quote: How did you do it without the psd files? I could tell you but you know I'd have to kill you .................. JKI used the VFILE program and extracted the .tga files for fuse and wing from the current ppv/fw190d folder: fw190d_4.VFC. Red stripes are a bitch. It is hard without the outline of the fuse and wing, so a lot of guessing where things are. 3 layers for Tan, Green and Brown. A lot of moving up and down until they are where they need to be. I traced lines and rivets from the old skin onto 2 layers on my new skin. It helps a LOT to be able to paint in Photoshop and save fuse and wing as .tga AND for the .planeskin command to work, sometimes it doesn't work. Copy the targas into the skins/offline/Brown190 folder. Fly in Warbirds and notice whatever I just did in Photoshop. Adjust or make changes/repeat. I'd say It has taken me about 12 hours so far (only for the fuse). The wing will take about the same. Sometimes I get lucky and someone has the old PSD files. Check out my Facebook page and you can see before and after images of work on this fuse. Art |

Really nice paint job, sir! Looking forward to using both of the "brown 4's" and the "yellow 10" ![]() I remember being told this forum has limited picture space allowance. I always use postimages.org to upload my pictures. The pics won't get removed for many years and it takes no space for the forum. Just copy the "Hotlink for forum" link that you get after uploading the picture and post it in the forum message. (Also just remove the second url if any, if you don't want to add promotion links to your picture) https://postimages.org/ <S> /Robert |

A tip for you. For rivits I’ll use the path tool to make paths where the rivits go. Then I’ll set my brush to a dot shape and in brush setting set the spacing out a bit. So when I stroke the path, it makes a dotted line. You probably already know this but if not, it really helps. |

No, I didn't know that about the dots. I'll try it out. Usually I make a dot and select it, option-cmd and move it a number of pixels with arrows. Then I repeat and repeat the copy-move until I have a line of dots. Then I select the line and option-cmd and copy it to somewhere else. Sometimes I make a tiny circle with selection tool and cmd-T it to make it smaller. Sometimes I make dark dots, copy and paste them and make them light dots side by side. This gives them a 3-d look. VFILE is a DOS app that's proprietary to Warbirds. You have to sign a NDA to use it. It opens up zero21_4.vfc files and such. It also puts the file back together to add fuse.tga or fuse.dds, etc. If there is no Photoshop artwork available, I have to open up the fw190dwing.tga and use what- ever I can from that artwork. The fw190dwing.tga has no layers, it is all one image, ouch. |
