For anybody not following this topic.

We now have several airworthy examples, sadly... all restored for customers in the USA...

Unfortunately these examples would NOT be allowed to operate in the UK to our strict CAA regulations.

Configured as FBVI / Owner Gerry Yagen / based at MAM, Virginia Beach

Configured as T-III / Owner Paul Allen / based at FHC, Seattle

Configured as FBVI / Owner Rod Lewis / Will be based in Texas

However, the 4th and 5th ones to roll off the productions line will be destined for the UK and built to the original specs in consultation with the CAA. The discovery of some 30,000 original DH drawings on microfiche in the UK in the last couple of years has significantly improved the restoration potential.

The 4th restoration and the first to be seen in the UK will be in BIV configuration.
This is the first bomber version which came into service at the end of 1941.
The will be for the "Pathfinder Trust" ... uito-build

The 5th restoration also bound for the UK will be in the familiar FBVI configuration.
This is the fighter-bomber version which came into service during 1943.
The will be for the "Peoples Mosquito "

The main difference between these UK projects to restore a Mosquito to the skies of Britain are that until now, ALL rebuild work has been undertaken in New Zealand because that's where the moulds and jigs were painstaking recreated by a chap called Glynn Powell.

The Peoples mosquito team intends to actually fit out the aircraft in the UK and also pave the way for more future rebuilds to take place in the UK.
(a second set of moulds is alleged)

The Pathfinder Trust will effectively buy off the shelf from the team in New Zealand.

So with a bit of luck, within a couple of years, we should have a Mosquitos flying in the British Skies once again
