There is another skin I want to do for the MiG-15. It has a red tail and I can't wait to start. I'll post an image of the work in progress after I finish the F4U-1a and F4U-4 I'm working on. In the meantime, to make your time reading this worthwhile, I think you will really enjoy looking at this really great video. It focuses on the MiG-15 vs Sabre during the Korean War. It is captivating and is very well made. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hveCeUWHowk |

Did you know that a MiG-15 pilot defected to the South in 1953? Guess who got to test fly that plane? Answer is 39 minutes into that video I mentioned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hveCeUWHowk Here's the MiG I'm working on right now: number 4115, Chinese Air Force "Red Fox". Here's my skin. It's a bit too shiny and I want to see how some weathering might improve the look. I'm anxious to do another camo plane that's from after the Korean War, maybe a Syrian or Hungarian MiG-15. Here is Nicolai Ivanov's #502 camouflaged plane. Adding flames and pilots would be nice. С новым годом Attachment: 502 Over the River_tiny.jpg [ 253.48 KiB | Viewed 5185 times ] |

Interesting documentry. I was impressed with the description of the USA G-suit. Since the the RAF and the USA had the G-suit from mid 1944 on, when will this be reflected in Warbirds flight data for late model RAF and USA aircraft? P-47D 25s P-51D 25s P-38Ls all had the G-suit system installed in them during production. F6F-5s and F4U 4s also had the system installed although the USN and USMC called them Z-suits. F4U 1Ds had the system retrofitted by late 1944. Spitfire XIVs and late model Spitfire IX also has G-suit systems installed. Something to think about. Fencer |

Here's my paint job. I added a smoking F-86. I like this MiG-15 skin a lot and hope it makes it in the game as the Default skin. Attachment: 263 Blue1_med.jpg [ 250.55 KiB | Viewed 5053 times ] |

Andy, I use PhotoShop for Mac too. I use 1024 x 1024 files. If I recall correctly you did a Mustang skin using much detail and layers in 2048 x 2048. Right? First, You have to use a fuse.tga or fuse.dds file. Also wing.tga or wing.dds. If you have neither, you need someone to extract these from the mig15.vfc. This is done with a DOS program called VFILE. Once you have these files, you continue with PS working with layers on the fuse.psd and wing.psd until you are finished. Many planes allow you to fly your skins in the game by putting a fuse.tga and wing.tga into the warbirds/skins/mig15/offline/263 directory. You have to create the directories that follow skins/. Then, go to the game Vehicle Information button in the main menu. Select the default skin and then type /.planeskin 263. Go fly and note your skin. If necessary go back to PS and make changes. Fly. Repeat 20 or so times, going from game to PS as needed until you are ready to convert it into a .vfc file using VFILE. I recently searched for a NVIDIA plugin for PhotoShop that allows me to open and especially SAVE my files as .dds and this has saved me 3 to 4 minutes every time I go to convert them to the .vfc files on the PC. But, I'm able to work faster when I am able to do the .planeskin command. Art PS: what plane do you want to skin? I'd be glad to help you get started. |
