Pakrat, 64 bit doesn't do that anymore, a newer version is up. At least it doesn't happen to me and I haven't seen it happening in the game recently. If something like that would happen to me, i'd quit using it where it is wrong and report the problem.
Since you have/had framerate problems maybe you should try it out as well, as it is supposed to increase frame rate, which I haven't checked yet. It won't overwrite your current version. Check the mac forum here for more 64 bit insight from some who are using it or trying to.
