Nice,

For anybody that is interested I had a long chat "the peoples mosquito" folks at the Duxford show.
They are literally ready to go and only require the funding to make the project happen.

Their plane will be the 4th to be rebuilt in New Zealand.
(2 planes that have already gone to the USA, the NZ guys own restored plane and theirs will make the 4th in line.)

In fact the work on the wing ribs etc is already well underway in NZ but the fuselage not started yet.

I was aware that the 2 rebuilds that have been done in New Zealand and now flying in the states would not be allowed to fly in the UK due to their construction and CAA strict regulations.

They therefore approached the CAA and asked them to DEFINE the spec they required to fly and display in the UK.
So theirs will actually be built exactly to the full and proper Dehavilland spec, albeit using modern epoxy glues.

Which is interesting because I raised the point about how they nurse the displaying rebuilds and are not doing any aggressive wing overs etc.

He reckoned that the CAA approved Dehavilland construction is far stronger than the ones rebuilt to date and they would be intending to display the aircraft "properly" in the UK ( i.e proper wingovers and full rolls even!)

As they will be using fuel inj Packard engines, no issue with carbs starvation!

They also have guys from the AVRO Vulcan restoration onboard now who will also help advise them on fund raising.

Recently 23,000 original DH mossie drawings were found on microfilm kicking around in an old cabinet and were donated to the cause, so that will help!

The drawings even revealed some new variants of the mossie never heard of before that never went into production.

So there you are..
All they need is money basically.

Sweet vids!

Who needs to aggressively fly these birds in today's world? I know I wouldn't stress any warbird to war time factors; no need to.

You want to aggressively fly an aircraft get an Extra 300. ;)

The beauty of it is.... that these are scratch-built new airframes

Anyway the point that is the guys in the UK are planning to display their aircraft to the public in a way which shows off its capabilites better than just a plain flypast.
Which made me happy :)

Knowing the guys behind the Vulcan are also involved now is additionally great.
Those boys loved a wingover hehe

Here are those 23,000 drawings on Microfilm found by people from Airbus in an old cabinet at former RAF Broughton.

Donated to the peoples mosquito project.. Nice.
